There are many things to do and fun events happening across Utah every weekend, but during the winter season there is some unique winter activities available. Which allows us to fully enjoy this amazing and beautiful place we live.

The winter season is here, although we have not seen much snow. Nevertheless, its cold outside and often that causes us to feel trapped inside waiting for winter to end. The current pandemic is also encouraging us to stay inside and the list of events has dwindled. I personally like to get outside in the winter and enjoy Utah’s winter activities available and the beauty provided by Utah mountains. This week I am sharing some winter events and activities for your to fully enjoy Utah during the winter months.
Utah Winter Activities
Explore Winter in Utah style by participating in one of the varied winter activities happening across Utah. It’s a great way to experience the outdoors and enjoy the cold what Utah offers. The warm winter blankets, hot tubs and fires are even more enjoyable after the end of a winter experience. The mountains offer blue skies, and the magical sparkle of mountain snow. So, check out the following locations offering options for Utah residents to get out and give Utah winter a try with a new experience.
Woodward Mountain Park
Park City, Utah
The Woodward Mountain Park offers an exciting mountain experience for all ages and abilities. Base learning zones, large freestyle zones. Heated lifts. Perfect option for First-Time Snowboarders or Skiers.
The Tubing Park claims to offer the the most fun! The experience of the center along with the vista’s and amenities makes for a great day on the mountain.
Soldier Hollow Mountain Tubing
Heber Valley, Utah
Tubing at Soldier Hollow provides the longest tubing lanes and some of the prettiest scenery around. The lift service provides easy rides to the top for another turn down the mountain.
Tickets are sold in advance and night tubing is available for more adventure. A fantastic outdoor activity for the entire family.
Bobsled Experience – Utah Olympic Park
The Utah Olympic Park schedule varies so check out the link in advance. This winter activity offers passengers the thrill of a lifetime as you ride down the 2002 Olympic track. Probably the fastest winter experience available. If you are not the thrill seeking sort you may enjoy just the visit to the venue where you can still feel the excitement of the Olympics in the atmosphere.
Enjoying Snowshoeing in Utah
Park City Guided Tours – If you want to be adventurous but would first like some guidance, Park City offers guided tours for your first excursion.
The phone app All Trails has many ways to search and find a snowshoeing trail designed for your experience level. Check this one out listing the top five choices.
Ice Skating! Hockey! Find some Ice to Enjoy Winter!
There are many locations to try ice skating as a winter activity. Bountiful Ice Ribbon is the newest outdoor option and offers a cozy atmosphere as well as a unique ice skating venue. Acord Ice Center provides indoor options to enjoy some indoor ice time as well as Murray Ice Center. If you want to continue to experience winter Olympics visit the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns Utah and skate on the same ice as Olympic hero’s and hopefuls. You can also find lessons on curling, speed skating and hockey to further expand winter enjoyment.
To Ski or Not to Ski!
Of course I vote ski! If you do not ski or board I still highly recommend a visit to one of the many ski resorts to experience the beauty. Most have a gondola to experience a covered ride up the mountain (yes, they are limiting passengers for Covid Safety). The views from the top are incredible and usually near a lodge to enhance the experience with a beverage or snack before experiencing the gondola ride to the bottom.
If you ski, or board then pick a mountain and go play for the day. If you want to join in the mountain experience, there are lessons to purchase, equipment to rent and a great experience to be had. The mountains are there for us to enjoy and the beauty and adventure they offer make the winter in Utah an amazing season.
